Certify 2 Go offers state-approved online driver education programs for eligible Ohio residents. There are 2 different types of programs.

Teen Driver Education (Ages 15 Years, 5 Months – 17)

Ohio residents who are at least 15 years and 5 months old and under the age of 18 are eligible to enroll in the Online Teen Driver Education program.

This program satisfies the required classroom portion of Ohio’s teen driver education requirements.

Adult Abbreviated Program (Age 18 and Over)

If you are 18 years of age or older and have failed your Ohio driving test, you may be required to complete the 4-Hour Adult Abbreviated Course before retaking the exam.

Certify 2 Go provides this program fully online for your convenience.

Certify 2 Go recommends completing your Ohio driver education process in the following order:

For Teen or Adult Drivers (First Timer)

1- Start the Online Course

Enroll in the Certify 2 Go 24-hour online driver education course.
You must complete at least 4 units before taking your written exam (you may also complete the full course first if preferred).

2- Obtain Your Learner Permit (TIPIC)

Visit the Ohio BMV, pass the required knowledge exam, and receive your Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC).

3- Begin Supervised Driving Practice

Start accumulating your required 50 hours of driving practice, including:

• At least 10 hours of nighttime driving

4- Complete the Online Course (If Not Already Finished)

Finish all course requirements and receive your Certificate of Completion from Certify 2 Go.

5- Complete 8 Hours of In-Car Instruction

Schedule and complete 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a certified Ohio driving school.

6- Take and Pass the Road Test

After meeting all requirements and holding your permit for at least 6 months, schedule your road test with the Ohio BMV or an authorized third-party testing site.

Once you pass, you’ll receive your Ohio driver’s license.

For Teen or Adult Drivers (If Failed a Road Test)

1- Complete the 4-Hour Adult Abbreviated Course

If you fail your road test, Ohio requires you to complete the 4-hour Adult Abbreviated Course before retesting. Certify 2 Go offers this program fully online.

2- Fulfill the Driving Requirement

After completing the online course, you must choose one of the following options:

Option A:

Complete a 4-hour behind-the-wheel adult abbreviated course with a certified Ohio driving school.

Option B:

Practice driving for 24 hours with a licensed driver age 21 or older.

• No more than 4 hours of practice may be completed in a single day.
• You must complete and notarize a Twenty-Four Hour Affidavit.

3- Retake the Road Test

Schedule your road test at the Ohio BMV and successfully pass the exam to receive your license.

Teen Driver Education (Under 18)

The Certify 2 Go Teen Driver Education course includes the state-required minimum of 24 hours of classroom instruction.

Ohio law limits students to a maximum of 4 hours of course time per day. To remain compliant with state regulations, once you reach 4 hours in a single day, the system will temporarily pause access until the next calendar day.

This ensures you meet Ohio’s legal learning requirements.

Adult Abbreviated Program (Age 18 and Over)

The Certify 2 Go Adult Abbreviated Course is a total of 4 hours.

You may complete the course:

• In one session, or
• Over multiple sessions at your convenience

However, the full program must be completed within 90 days of enrollment.

The Certify 2 Go Ohio Driver Education final exam consists of 50 questions, including a combination of multiple-choice and true/false questions.

To pass the exam, you must score at least 75%, which means correctly answering 38 out of 50 questions.

How Many Attempts Do I Get?

• You are allowed up to 3 attempts to pass the final exam.
• The exam may only be taken once per day.
• If you do not pass on your first attempt, you may retake the exam the following day.

What If I Fail All 3 Attempts?

If you fail the final exam three times, you will be required to restart the entire course from the beginning.

To reset your course access, you must contact Certify 2 Go. A $25 course reset fee will apply.

Don’t worry — the course is designed to fully prepare you for success, and most students pass without difficulty when they complete the lessons carefully.

You may complete your required 8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with any certified Ohio driving school.

After finishing your Certify 2 Go online classroom course, you will receive your Certificate of Completion, which must be provided to the driving school along with any additional documentation they require.

Yes. Certify 2 Go’s course satisfies the 24-hour classroom instruction requirement needed to obtain a Driver Education Certificate in the State of Ohio.

Upon successful completion of the program, students receive the required documentation necessary to continue the Ohio driver licensing process.

Please note: This course fulfills the classroom portion only. Students must also complete the required behind-the-wheel training and meet all additional Ohio licensing requirements to obtain their driver’s license.

Yes. You have 180 days from the date of registration to complete your Certify 2 Go course.

If the course is not completed within 180 days, your enrollment will expire. In that case, you will need to re-enroll, repurchase the course, and complete it again from the beginning.

However, once you have successfully completed the course and received your Certificate of Completion, the certificate does not expire.

No. In addition to completing the 24-hour classroom course, students must also meet the State of Ohio’s behind-the-wheel requirements.

These include:

• 8 hours of in-car instruction with a certified driving instructor
• 50 hours of supervised driving practice with a parent or guardian
  • At least 10 of those hours must be completed at night

Certify 2 Go fulfills the classroom portion of the requirement. The remaining driving requirements must be completed separately in accordance with Ohio state regulations.

Yes. You may complete your 50 hours of supervised driving practice with a sibling or family member, provided they meet Ohio’s requirements.

The supervising driver must:

Yes — but there are additional state requirements you must meet before receiving your Ohio driver’s license.

• Pass a vision screening
• Pass the required written knowledge exam (if not already completed)
• Successfully complete the two-part road test at an Ohio BMV Driver Exam Station
